True feelings, lovely memories, beautiful images
Venice elopement photographer
Welcome! I’m Luca
Any elopement photographer knows that Venice is the most beautiful and romantic city in Italy (and certainly one of the most sought after in the world) to elope.
An elopement in Venice is something you cannot forget for the rest of your life: the perfect way to celebrate your love.
I have been photographing Venice elopements of couples from around the world for many years, couples who want the intimate and romantic experience they always dreamed about.
Venice offers plenty of options for enchanting locations to have your ceremony and take photos after that.
An elopement in Venice is meant either for a civil wedding or for a symbolic one, but also for renewing your vows and love.
If you are planning to elope in Venice…
…a few tips to plan your elopement
Venues
A civil wedding for two -or for “a small handful of guests”- can be celebrated at Palazzo Cavalli (one of the Town Hall’s appointed sites). For a symbolic wedding or a vows renewal ceremony Venice can offer many choices, from the most sumptuous to the most intimate : ancient palaces, beautiful hidden gardens, enchanting terraces. It’s up to you, depending on your wishes!
Best time to elope in Venice
Whatever the season or the weather Venice’s unique atmosphere will not fall short of your expectations.
Anyway, there is something to be considered.
- Summer is certainly nice in Venice, but you have to be prepared for the crowd of tourists and the very hot weather.
- During the low seasons you can enjoy special rates from hotels and restaurants and your saving could be substantial.
- Getting married over the weekend is more expensive than getting married on weekdays. Elopements usually take place during the week.
- Avoid getting married during the Carnival period: the costs are crazy at that time of the year and every corner of the city is crowded with both locals and tourists.
Can you help me find other vendors in Venice?
I have a list of vendors I’ve worked with in Venice, but I’m not a wedding planner!
Although an elopement is not as difficult to plan as a larger wedding, there are many things to put together: paperwork, venues, celebrant (or translator for the civil ceremony), witnesses (if it is just the two of you), florist, make up artist, hair stylist, water taxi driver or gondolier.
I strongly recommend to turn to a venetian wedding planner and, just in case you haven’t yet thought about it, I can suggest someone reliable.
Same sex wedding in Venice
Same sex marriages are finally possible in Italy! Such as many other European countries Italy has joined in, thanks to a law allowing civil marriages between homosexual couples.
Many italian couples have been waiting too long to be allowed to put an official seal on their partnership.
Gay weddings can take place at Palazzo Cavalli and same sex couples can now celebrate their love in Venice with legally binding civil union celebrations.
If same sex marriages are legal in your own country, your italian wedding will be valid there as well.
I document elopements the same way I photograph larger weddings… because they ARE weddings. I offer packages ranging from two hours to the full day.
Most of the times a 4-hour package is enough for an amazing, fully-documented elopement photo session.
I like to start the session with the getting ready at your hotel or apartment (pictures of the setting, candids of the preparation both of the groom and the bride, portraits of the couple and family, details of the wedding attire).
Then we transfer to the venue of the ceremony.
Transfers in Venice can be so spectacular to photograph, either on foot or by water taxi or, even more, by gondola!
Then I document the wedding ceremony, of course!
In case you choose a shorter photo session I’ll meet you right where you are getting married.
After the ceremony?
Plenty of choice for taking astonishing couple photoshoots throughout Venice: the best-known Grand Canal, Rialto bridge, St Mark’s square, the Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs are testimonials of what has made Venice’s reputation of a lovers’ city.
But we can also avoid the crowd and explore more intimate areas and narrow side streets.
And what about a romantic gondola ride while watching the captivating beauty lining the intertwined small canals?
A blend of all of these settings could provide the best elopement photoshoot (meaning the best memory) that you could ever dream of.
Eventually we can conclude the session with your dinner for two: a romantic restaurant with your dream centerpiece and a bottle of champagne…
